Rental management web service, with a social aspect of finding roommates.

Abstract

The idea for this project came naturally as a response to the lack of a software that would satisfy needs of many young people. Students on the verge of finishing studies, young workers starting the careers, are often looking for a place to rent - to move out from parent’s home. Unfortunately, rent prices are highly inflated, and having a rental unit for yourself could be considered a luxury. Having in mind how people can differ, and how some types of people do not match people with other types of personalities, the concept of a service devoted to the social aspect of finding roommates was born. By matching people by their preferences and personalities, and letting them communicate and choose a rental together, the untapped market niche, that would have a potential to help many people, could be fulfilled. This thesis will document the details of the development process, used technologies, and created functionalities, as well as the ideas for the future improvements and product expansion. The methods used in the project will be explained, justified, and compared to other solutions.
