Abstract:
This theoretical thesis analyses different visual aspects of title sequences
design. We look at title sequences design development throughout history and the way
how different prominent designers changed the visual aspect and trends of design.
You will find different design analyses of well-known title sequences, how they were
created, and why designers choose specific solutions.
It is also important to mention how the development of technologies influenced
design and title sequences. A significant title sequences designer was Soul Bass who
had major influence on title sequences in the past and because of him title sequences
design today looks so professional and the title sequence design sphere is really
developed. Contained in the paper is also a biography of different design works of
Bass. Another prominent designer discussed was Kyle Cooper whose unconventional
solutions changed our understanding of title sequences ideas and brought them to a
completely new level. Such pieces of art as "Seven 1995", "Dead President",
“Arlington Road”, "Mimic" and so on, show us how easily stereotypes can be
challenged. He is without a doubt the most important figure in nowadays’ title
sequences design. Step by step different famous title sequences are reviewed and what
we discover the process of their creation. In the last chapter, in reference to the
reviewed works we will create Principles of the Visual Language, technologies and
ways of creating a title sequence.
