Streszczenie:
This dissertation is devoted to analysing and explaining the phenomenon of synesthesia and the use of projections in the world, with particular emphasis on it in theatre and art. It is supported by definitions of this phenomenon and justifications of leading artists and scientists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Simon Baron-Cohen, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and John E. Harrison. The work analyses the phenomenon through its historical and etymological origins in order to familiarise the reader with the relevant terminology. Dissertation shows first steps of humankind in projections, by pointing out some most important inventions, such as Magic Lantern and Linnebach Projector, moving to new technologies. It is supported by an analysis of Johannes Deutsch's play and an analysis of American Psycho staged on Broadway and Incognito from the WarSawa theatre. The work shows that projections as an artistic and theatrical medium make it easier for the audience to obtain synaesthetic sensations.
