dc.description.abstract Emotions are an integral, thus very important part of humanity. On the one hand, extreme impressionability is an obvious flaw. Especially when one needs to rely only on the analytical sides of their life situation. On the contrary, empathy helps to understand others better. Sometimes emotions could be a gift, helping people understand themselves and others, but sometimes it could be a curse, confusing people and making their lives harder. Many artists are very vulnerable people because creating an artistic piece requires deeply feeling the mood, and noticing the shapes, the entire color palette, and every little detail. Besides, because of extreme sensitivity artists are impressed by everything they undergo in their life. And a wide range of emotions needs to be broken out. So, art is one of the best and the most helpful ways to let emotions go. And it seems that many more artists not only nowadays but throughout history found the answer to show their emotions by using “art medium”. Many artworks are kinds of art therapy, even in those cases when it is an unconscious decision. Musicians are writing music that expresses their state, dancers experience particular emotions through choreography, painters show things they are impressed by through paints and writers transmit their thoughts, emotions, and opinions through storytelling and the temper of characters. This thesis is a research on the importance of emotions in art and which are the ways, tools, movements, forms, and styles to release them in art pieces, and the difference between expressing and experiencing emotion in different art movements. pl_PL
