This research paper brings you closer to the subject of sales and promotion of
handmade goods over the years. Understanding these changes is important in
designing new tools, which are now missing on the market.
In the first chapter, I go throughout the years, from the beginning of crafts and guilds
to present times, which are strongly influenced by the Internet, social media and
lately – COVID-19 pandemic. Here, I focus on sales and promotion methods around
the world, but also fairs in Poland and the evolution of Polish art of handicraft.
Besides that, you can find contemporary references to tradition of design, like
weaving, 3D printing and ceramics, based on operating businesses.
In chapter two, I focus on solutions for companies operating worldwide and on the
local market. I chose three services for each group. Etsy, Instagram and Facebook
Marketplace as these are available in countries around the world, and compare
them to Pakamera, TRŁ and Homebook which are specifically created for a Polish
users. This competition analysis is the basis of my UX Research, presented in the next
part.
The third chapter is a description of my methodology, which I used to design a
HOME mobile application. I have chosen the Double Diamond strategy, which can
be described in four steps: Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver. First two stages
are part of UX Research, and the other two make the UI design process. |
