dc.description.abstract This research paper aims to discuss the role of socially engaged art in changing stereotypes. Socially engaged art focuses on specific groups of people. This work explores how stereotypes affect people and how socially engaged art can influence their formation of identity. To show the role of stereotypes in our view of the world, in the first chapters I explain how concepts and later stereotypes shape our perception. I start by covering the formation of the stereotypes, to propose ways of changing them. After a thorough explanation of stereotypes and their mechanisms, I propose two ways of how to break this form of judgement. This work is a combination of the working methods of changing the stereotypes and consequences of stereotypes in behaviour, both in people and towards them. Finally, the paper encourages further discussion on the influence of stereotypes in society and the role of socially engaged art in these matters. pl_PL
