Customized Diet Web Application

Abstract

Diet treatment requires a lot of work from both Dietitians and Patients. Currently a majority of tasks such as meal planning, tracking measurement changes or calculations related to body measurements are done manually or on paper and generally do not have a unified organized system to track all of the required information during the treatment. The main goal of our project is to provide an organized platform, which allows digitizing patients’ diet processes during the treatment, creating, customizing and managing diets by doctors along with reduction of physical presence in medical establishments that can affect the risk of infection. Our diet application includes such features as individual meal plan assignments for each patient, depending on their medical conditions and the purpose of diet (e.g. losing/gaining weight, reduce sugar intake), tracking patient’s measurement while following the diet and medical history, reporting diet deviations, additionally providing auto-generated report to inform doctor about the patient’s measurements changes. The main difference between our diet tracking application and existing ones is the strict and correct calculations of various indicators (proportional changes of nutritional parameters, ideal body weight of the patient, etc.), which are based on specific formulas provided by medical workers. Our platform also provides many modules such as medical history, appointments, notes from doctor and more, that are missing in other applications. Considering multiple studies, showing that medical apps have a poor UI1, we are focusing on a flexible, user-friendly interface making our application frictionless in use. The application is built using relational database management system – PostgreSQL, ASP.NET Core 5 for Back-End with the help of ORM2 - EntityFramework Core 5 and Angular 11 for Front-End.
