Universal language proposal for RPA automation of business processes

Abstract

RPA (Robots Process Automation) is usually associated with software that can replicate the activities performed by the user within the specific environment. Regardless of the RPA tool chosen, one of the first steps in automation is analyzing the automated activities usually performed by an analyst with the possible participation of an employee. There is currently no onesize- fits-all user activity recording language that is both computer-processable and human-readable. In this work, we propose the syntax of a new language compared with examples of languages that are part of the leading RPA solutions. The results allow us to believe that the currently used XML-based writing formats are not suitable for constructing a universal language for describing automated business processes. We believe that aspects of the language such as readability, brevity, and processability allow us to build a new class of tools for analysts and will allow us to increase employee involvement in the automation process and simplify existing automated processes.
