In my research paper, I am analyzing a phenomenon of cruelty and violence in video
games. Firstly, I will look at well-known games from the game developer Rockstar Games,
such as the GTA series and Manhunt . I will describe their plot to get more understanding of
what is happening on the screen. Then, in addition to the plot, my attention will also be drawn
to each game features: the mood of the game, the seriousness of what is happening, graphics,
realistic animation, and graphics as well as working out of lawlessness in terms of planning
and implementing a particular severity of crimes. In the conclusion of the game’s analysis, I
will mention the firearm law of the USA and the spread of violent content in other media than
video games. In the second part of my thesis, I will dive into the topic of video games'
connection with the real world. There I will exemplify some court cases which involved the
abovementioned games from Rockstar. Further, I will be reviewing some of the researches
that prove or disprove the negative impact of video games on the psyche of players and on
the rates of crimes committed, trying to answer the key question of my work: do games affect
crime rate and negatively or not? |
