Alita: Battle Angel as a 2019 American epic cyberpunk action film and live-action was created by translating 1993 original video animation adaptation Battle Angel based on Japanese manga artist Yukito Kishiro's 1990s series Gunnm. This thesis is focused on study of the strategies of imitating anime style in live-action film in the case of Alita: Battle Angel (2019). I want to investigate how characteristic features of the anime and manga genre, as exemplified by the anime Alita, were translated into the language of film with the use of specific strategies. The features in question include a) the technical development of characters and creative choices related to matters of character presentation, b) film language (the environment with the VFX, choice of color palette, and the soundtrack), and c) innovations and departures from the original plot. |
