dc.description.abstract In this research paper, I turn my attention to the concept of time travel in science fiction works in reference to movies and anime TV series. Before immediately proceeding to the analysis, it is necessary to consider a short history of the concept of time itself since it is impossible to talk about time travel without understanding what this very concept entails. Although we may not be able to get any closer to the truth in a relation of time, the notion of how humanity has understood time from a scientific point of view over the past decades will help us stand on our feet more confidently. We will also look at scientists' data on all the phenomena that we are so familiar with from science fiction works: paradoxes, multiple world lines, different ways of traveling in time, and what the scientific community thinks about this, whether it is indeed possible to travel in time. Many people, coming across works about time travel, and especially those that supposedly have a scientific basis, become interested in the topic of time. They fantasize about getting into the past and think, “What would I do then?” In this paper, I would also look at when this very interest was born and how the mass popularisation of science fiction about time travel in the form that we know it today began. pl_PL
