Neuropsychological assessment of patients with neurodegenerative diseases by using immersive virtual reality environments.
Paluch, Julia
New media are a hybrid form, merging art with computing, and it is fitting to apply them to a transdisciplinary approach to design. One of the fields slowly responding to technological innovations is neuropsychology. Researchers have emphasized the necessity of increasing the ecological validity of neuropsychological measures, as the fixed assessment battery does not reflect the patient’s functioning in everyday scenarios. Immersive virtual reality provides an unprecedented opportunity to recreate real environments, thus enabling to perform executive functions assessment in a highly ecologically valid setting. With the supervision of a clinical psychologist, an application for Oculus Quest was designed with an objective to measure inhibitory control as a potential assessment tool for screening of first symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. This multimedia project connects a highly immersive environment based on an everyday scenario with a script to measure inhibitory control.

A Cross-Professional Design Process for the “Kroje” Typographic Conference.

A Cross-Professional Design Process for the “Kroje” Typographic Conference.
Martowska, Anna
My master thesis is a kind of kind of guide through a profession of graphic designer
written by a young female designer. It is a collection of experiences, thoughts and
interviews creating a compendium of knowledge of what a contemporary designer
profession really looks like. What are the conditions of this profession? How to
achieve goals as a graphic designer operating on the market of large corporations?
How to do it in a small team? Moreover, how other professional fields such as
architecture, strategy, management, finances and others affect the end result and
design decisions. Hence, my research question is how to survive as an ambitious
young female graphic designer and how an interdisciplinary work context influences
design and management process? Moreover, I want to prove how valuable learning
from practice is.
